What is in Hempstead?

In the centre of Hempstead, there are a range of amenities including a pharmacy, doctor’s surgery, Co-op convenience store, Indian restaurant and The Flying Saucer pub. 

In 1978 the area gained Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre. It has grown to have a multi storey car park and over 50 stores including supermarkets and well-known high street retailers such as Marks and Spencer, Sainsbury’s and TK Maxx. There is also a café’ and restaurant area which hosts popular choices like Costa, Bella Italia and Subway.

Hempstead has been home to an infant and junior school since 1907. It rates highly in parents’ choices.

What is there to do in Hempstead?

One of the area’s oldest roads, Harrow road, is home to Hempstead Playing Fields and Pavillion. There’s free parking and with climbing frames, swings and slides, it’s great for the younger ones to run around. 

The Hempstead Valley food court has a great variety of restaurants and eateries as well as cafes. You can dine in or if you prefer, go Al-Fresco. Well known national chains that reside there include Costa Coffee, Nando’s and Bella Italia

What travel links are there?

Hempstead is located close to the M2 motorway which conveniently takes you to London or the Kent coast. Less than 15 minutes drive away is Rainham train station with frequent trains that run every day. The shopping centre hosts a number of bus stops serving the local community as well as stops for National & commuter coaches.
